CLANCY Family HistoryThis famous Irish clan surname originally MacClancy, has a world wide reputation for being in the thick of the fighting. This is not perhaps surprising as the name would seem to translate as 'the son of the red warrior' from the gaelic 'Mac Fhlannchaidh'. Certainly there has hardly been a time in Irish history, when a Clancy has not been involved. There are two main septs, the most important being centred on County Clare, and the village of Cahermacclancy, and to some extent the surrounding counties of Galway and Tipperary, whilst a smaller group can be found in Co Leitrim. The original 'Mac' prefix was lost in the 17th century, but of late some nameholders have readopted it...

From 1750 - to 1800. Margaret Clancy married William Patrick Sambourne. They resided in Kilkenny, Ireland. He was said to be a Chief of Yeomen. They may have been protestant - Presbyterian or Methodist.
Does anyone have information on Patrick Clancy? Birth around 1828, place in Ireland unknown. He married Margaret McAuliffe who came from Cork. The marriage took place in Goshen, Orange County, New York, USA in 1858 . They settled in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA. Death 22 JAN 1903. Their children were all born in Wisconsin, USA; Thomas A., Michael F., William John, James D., Mary. Any information welcome, I am trying to locate where he was born in Ireland. THANK YOU

Patrick Clancy born in 1840 and baptised on the 19th December 1840. His father was William Clancy and mother was Mary Moloney before their marriage. Their parish district was Kilworth, Co. Cork. I am searching for any information regarding William Clancy and his ancestors, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
My grandfather was from Ireland and came to England and joined the Royal Marines - he was, I believe, a PTR - physical training instructor. He died in Plymouth in Devon in 1955 - 1960? Not too sure. He was with Florence White - Scottish, when he died. There were 4 children, Violet, Joan, Jackson and Lonsdale all with the surname White. I do not know what my grandfather's first name was - I do know his family name was Clancy. He was really into boxing - hence his sons were named Jackson and Lonsdale. I am Jacqueline. I wonder if anyone has any information?
Clare and cork 1900
My 4th Great Grandmother Hanorah Clancy, born in about 1799, married Patrick Balton, also born about 1799. They both moved to America and lived in Iowa. Any further information on both of these families would be greatly appreciated.
