BRYANT Family History
This interesting surname is of Old Breton-Irish origin, and derives from the Celtic personal name "Brian", of truly ancient ancestry and believed to contain the element "bre", meaning hill or "brigh", strong. Breton bearers of the name were among the Normans who invaded England in 1066, and they later went on to invade and settle in Ireland in the 12th Century, where the name became confused with a native Irish version of it, borne in particular by one of the greatest of Irish septs, descendants of Brian Boru, who rose to the high kingship of Ireland in 1002. This native Irish name had also been borrowed by Vikings, who introduced it independently in North West England before the Norman Conquest...Select Audience

Brandy
My grandmother was Sarah Bryant, one of the Daughters of William Henry Bryant 1865-1935, and Ora London 1882-1957. Due to difficulties with records of immigration, I am unable to find where the family came from and who my great grandfather's parents were. I am here to research and learn as much as I can about the half of my family that is so hidden from me.

As Brittany was most likely settled by Wesh/Cornish โCelticโ people as the Anglo Saxons moved west in the 6th C and not Irish, could the name Bryant derive from the Wesh word Braint meaning privileged ?

My name is James Kenneth Bryant, a descendant of the John Jack Bryant (A slave born in 1811) and Holland Lancaster Bryant family dating back to the year 1811. Verbal history suggests John Jack was born in the area of Craven County, North Carolina and later sold to the Lancaster family in Brunswick County, North Carolina. I am interested in any Bryant family history prior to 1811 in vicinity of Greenville and New Bern, North Carolina as well as Bryant family history in vicinity of south eastern Virginia prior to 1811.

(Part 1 of 3) The Bryant name has a long history in Ireland, but now DNA and some recorded history says its origin is from the south-west region of the Emerald Island. The Bryant story [dominated by DNA tribal marker R1b-L513, Subgroup O2] can trace their beginnings to what is now County Kerry from 50 BCE. Perhaps the journey begins with the Clanna Dedad; Deda, son of Sen or Deda Mac Sin. The Bryant surname origin is possibly a branch of what will become the Dรกirine [R1b-L513] who are found in south Ireland around 300 CE.
Anthony Barrett
(Part 2 of 3) According to research, the Dรกirine will join with the Dรกl Riata of north-east Ireland and invade Scotland around 500 CE. But how could this be? Recent discoveries from DNA testing are unlocking the migration patterns of Celtic tribes as late as 800 CE to 1200 CE. The Bryant story begins in pre-history Ireland but many of his descendants will then move to Kintyre, Scotland where they and other R1b-L513 members will form the Dalriada. This line and many of his kin will then travel to Brittany, France during the Dark Ages.

(Part 3 of 3) Discover their newly found untold story and how forgotten texts bring their story back to life. From the ebook, โThe Tribe Withinโ learn how DNA unfolds this amazing tale and if you look in the right places, how history narrates this evidence. There is another written account of their story, but it is camouflaged in smoke and myth โ it will become the tales of King Arthur.
